Quilt Giveaway to Help Baby Mia

 GOOD NEWS UPDATE!
Mia got a Heart!! The transplant took and she now has a new beating heart. Please keep them in your prayers as well as the family who generously donated after their loss. Thanks for all the donations, they are needed now as much as ever, as the expenses will continue to escalate through this transition and especially recovery. Hooray for this good news!! MORE DETAILS IN NEXT POST.

THE STORY:
I'm so happy to be doing a Quilt Giveaway, in hopes of generating donations for Baby Mia. Mia is my friend's baby, who was born with a dysfunctional heart and is on a waiting list in Seattle for a heart transplant. I read their family blog everyday and just cry. My heart aches for Mimi (the mom) and is so inspired by her strength and faith. She's with Mia everyday, but because of all the tubes isn't allowed to even hold her.

Mia has been patiently holding on for the past 3 months. But, she's one of 7 babies in the Seattle Children's Hospital on the Washington waiting list. Sadly their insurance is falling short of paying for the surgeries and health care Mia has already received. I ask all who read this to please help, by adding the banner at the bottom of this post to your blogs, email, or Facebook. Donate if you can and read about sweet little Mia: HERE

TO ENTER:
Please leave a comment on this post. Your comment earns you one entry. (Make sure to say if you've been able to donate, or post this on your sidebar/facebook etc.)

You can earn an extra 5 entries for each of the things below, (for a total of 20 entries):
1. Please take the time to write about sweet Mia on your blog (nothing helps more than this).
2. Post about it on Facebook with the link.
3. Email your friends and family with the giveaway post link.
4. Post the banner below in the sidebar of your blog.

Not only an I excited to do a giveaway but, I'm so thankful for any and all of your help in getting the message out there. Really I'm so grateful for all the love that's being spread for baby Mia. Thanks. The contest entries will go until 11pm MST on Wed. November 12th. I'll tally up the entries and let the random # generator decide the winner.

To those who donate a dollar or more if you can, I will give an ADDITIONAL 20 ENTRIES. I'm grateful for this opportunity to help. I read about baby Mia's updates everyday on their family blog and wish there was more I could do to help. Thank you for your generosity and kindness. Good Luck!

To post the banner in your Blogger sidebar.
1. Go to "Layout"
2. "Add a Gadget"
3. "HTML/Java Script" and paste the code from the text box below.

THANK YOU!! So much to everyone who's helped! And, small donations can go a long way! Imagine if we could get the word out to 500,000 people and each one donated a dollar, that would half a million dollars!

"By small means great things come to pass." Thanks again!

I am praying for Mia and checking her blog for updates. I have added your banner to my sidebar and am going to try and donate also! It just breaks my heart to hear about what she is going through. Praying for a new heart for this precious little girl!!!!!!!!!!

I am submitting this tomorrow at work, b/c they allow each employee $250 to a cause of our choice. Pray that they approve Mia's heart as my cause. I told Kathy, I heard about the program today and then received the email about Mia's heart...God works!!! I am a RN in a PICU and Congenital Heart Surgery unit, so I can picture exactly how she looks and how tired her mom and family are. Please tell them that I will pray for them and think of her with each patient I care for! God has a plan for this baby girl. I have seen SO MANY heart babies survive...with prayer and patience. I tried to use my paypal, and it is not working...I'll figure it out.

Stephanie,

Thanks so much for sending me your message about the quilt fundraiser. It got my wheels turning. I could donate a few dollars, but then I got thinking, I COULD just do my own fundraiser for baby Mia too! I'm going to be doing a CD fundraiser with this. I've already contacted them : )

I was just thinking...there's lots of us mom's out there who "do" stuff besides just being a mom...what if there were more who did things like this for fundraisers. As a mom, I can't even imagine what Mimi is going through. I have 5 month old and feel so grateful he's healthy (for the most part - he does have to go for a little surgery in January...).

Thanks for sharing your quilt and your idea. It's put things into a different perspective for me. I think the Lord gives us talents and opportunities to bless others for the most part. And there ARE so MANY opportunities! Good luck with the quilt thing - I'll spread the word for ya. -Sara

Wow, Steph, seems that there are lots of people who want to help any way they can! Let't pray that there are many more who can help make a difference. I just keep thinking about how grateful I am for my beautiful, healthy kids and can't imagine what their family is going through. Hopefully the give-aways can help get the word out about sweet little Mia. Word-of-mouth is the best way to get things done!
You did a great job on the quilt...hope I win it!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for doing this. We are friends of John and Mimi and we are grateful they have such good friends. I have made a donation. Wrote about Mia on my blog sent an email out to friends and attached the Java Script on my blog. The blanket is adorable if I win however it is going straight to Mia. I even thought about having people sign it. Maybe that is another idea. To add your name to a blanket you have to donate $5 for a bottom space and $20.00 to get your name at the top. Just a thought that came to me right now as I was sitting here I hope I win or maybe I will get another blanket going with this idea
Thanks again

I believe that Marie was a few years older than me in school, so I am not too familiar with her and I am sure she does not remember me. However, her story is so sad and I am so thrilled to be able to donate to this cause! My prayers are with the family.

I blogged about Mia and put her button up on my page in the blog entry. (Couldn't figure out how to add it the sidebar in Wordpress, still trying to figure it out.) My heart goes out to this baby and her family. It's so sad! I don't have a facebook so I can't put this there, but I will for sure be emailing all of my friends and family about this. Thanks for the information and the chance to win that stunning quilt.
